Black screen was mentioned 4 times, once in fixed issues and 3 times in known issues.

AMD doesn't support D3D VK Interop?

Far as I know no though the game has some AMD extensions and others for NVIDIA and general Khronos ones including HDR but it lacks the FreeSync AMD Vulkan extensions mentioned on AMD's blog for how to set up HDR on Vulkan for AMD devices. https://gpuopen.com/using-amd-freesync-premium-pro-hdr-code-samples/ VK_EXT_HDR_METADATA_EXTENSION_NAME – allows us to query and set HDR display formats for our swap chain. VK_AMD_DISPLAY_NATIVE_HDR_EXTENSION_NAME – allows us to query and set FreeSync HDR display modes for our surface. VK_EXT_FULL_SCREEN_EXCLUSIVE_EXTENSION_NAME – allows our app to display in full screen exclusive which is required for FreeSync The AMD native HDR one isn't something I can find in the game but the two others exist plus a few AMD and NVIDIA extensions like over commit on memory management for AMD and something I think it was geometry shader related for NVIDIA. EDIT: Effectively DOOM Eternal and Red Dead Redemption 2 doesn't do HDR on AMD GPU's although I can't check that myself this isn't a HDR capable display but from reading about it and all the complaints on how AMD's drivers don't support it and going back and forth between that and the games not supporting AMD ha ha. Perhaps it's a bit of both. Vendor specific extensions for various solutions have their ups and downs depending on what gets implemented and required for features such as high dynamic range. Though perhaps the above is more specific to (yet another.) HDR attempt that being FreeSync(2) HDR like what NVIDIA had early on with NVAPI HDR in a few titles before Microsoft (Kinda.) got it together and implemented better support directly into Windows 10 itself over a few builds. 😀 Support is still wonky in games though D3D or low-level API, Ori for another recent example though SpecialK recently allowed for getting it working but that won't help Vulkan or D3D12 cases.

One of the fixes in the change log is HDR detection and support in Vulkan titles which is odd. edit- So I still get the warning AMD doesn't support HDR in Doom Eternal, but I can enable it in game settings. My display also confirms HDR is running.

Won't try these yet, as only 20.2.2 seems to have less possibilities to hang with sound playing or black screen while using hardware acceleration. 20.3.1 was a big step back for these issues. Kudos to the heroes out there trying 20.4.1, hoping to see positive feedback for hang/black screen.

Hi vbetts, I have an AMD 5700XT card and I installed the driver listed in this article last night. I can confirm that the HDR implementation in Doom Eternal is resolved. Both in part because, HDR implementation in Vulkan titles are fixed (Doom Eternal is a Vulkan run game), and also because I fired on the game last night and ticked the HDR box. My monitor immediately went into HDR mode and I did a few rounds of multiplayer and a campaign level. It's gorgeous.

I'm on a Vega 56 and can confirm that HDR in Doom Eternal now works! WAHEY! 😀

Is the freesync turn on the screen brightness flicker finally fix?

Hey guys! I'm having a serious problem with the new drivers. I use a tv as my primary monitor and it doesn't go higher than 1366x768 so I use VSR and it let's me go upto 1440p. Now the first issue is, when i change my resolution to 1080p and use scaling to fit in my display, windows lags. It feels like everything is running in 15 fps. Video games work fine. The scenario I described is in 19.2.1 driver. And its the only driver which lets me play in 1080p After applying VSR in any updated drive, it does let me use 1080p in windows but games Don't show 1080p resolution. Im using a nitro plus rx 570 8gb. It would be really helpful if anyone finds a fix.

What crashes, how many, which card exact, tell people more so they can help.
