With every release of new drivers they say that "This release contains support for .............. games. Do they need to put something into the drivers package to make the game playable? If i don't have the latest drivers the game will not open at all or it will have low fps? and if yes why is that?

Fixed Issues : Radeon Settings may sometimes not appear in the right-click context menu on Windows® desktop after Radeon Software installation. Still have it, third driver in a row. I had to add it in right click from "Registry Editor" P.S Windows 10 64 & r7 360 https://imgur.com/a/v0EViSx

It means that they have done some optimization, of course it will run with older drivers but not as well.

With Battlefield 1 Beta, they put in a check where the game wouldn't launch unless you had specific drivers. There were workarounds that proved the requirement was unnecessary. I'm assuming this was done to gather consistent results during the beta. As was said above, the new drivers usually have optimizations for newer games - but often these optimizations only benefit newer products.

Might run fine on older drivers, i played Resi 7 on year old drivers, and i was getting around 112fps, maxed out at 1440p, had no problems at all.

I get max cpu usage of 75% and average fps of 40 and score 6100 with lowest settings and 720p and 50% resolution modifier in assassins creed origins with my rx 580 4GB and 2600k due to bad driver optimization I tried everthing with my bios then i borrowed my friend gtx 970 and made the same settings and I got the score of 11000 so whats wrong with my rx 580 ? i tried this driver same problem persist and I tried 18.8.2 and the last WHQL Which is 18.7.1 so any help ??

For me 1712.2 drivers have been best performing. On R9-390 cards.
