I really hope Guru3d also investigates frame time results along with fps. From what I have seen, even in GPU bound situations we should have a huge decrease in frame time, which inturn will provide a superior, consistent user experience.

Thanks for the review.
It appears to be a great technology, especially for CPU-limited games.
Hilbert, I'd also like to ask you to avoid using graphs that don't start at 0, when showing performance boost. The top graph at 2nd page starts at 150, giving a bit misleading view. Still, it's a big improvement.

I think it would be interesting to see a benchmark with a low entry Intel CPU rather than only the AMD APU.

So these guys have worked through the night. Enjoy your wel deserved rest driverteam 😀
Still wanted to see how CF290 gains with an i7 CPU.

I'd like to see if it increases min fps or makes the frame rate more consistent

So wait this only helps the new APU's? No love for lano?

There you go - I think it's pretty clear why only part of it was posted in the review

This is great if you are the fraction of people out there that will pair up a low end CPU\APU with a super high end GPU. Or if you have a high end system but run BF4 only on medium settings. However high end CPU with high end GPU at max settings will be only an increase of 10% at best. I bet when they test with 290x CF at max settings we will only see about 3-5% increase. Which really is close to the margin of error.
Then there is the whole issue with drivers and bugs. Lets be honest, AMD does not have a good track record of releasing new drives and fixing bugs in any sort of timely fashion. I mean just look at this whole driver fiasco. Everyone was thinking that is was DICE fault for not releasing Mantle when it turned to be AMD dragging their feet again with drivers. DICE probably just released the patch for BF4 before the end of Jan, even with out AMD having their drivers ready so people would stop blaming them. They have had their fair share of complaints as is with he state BF4 was released.
I am just very skeptical at this point considering AMDs horrible driver track record. I mean they still haven not even released the long ago promised frame pacing driver for multi monitor setups which was supposed to have been out over 6 months ago.
However, i still am hoping that Mantle ends up being widely used by the industry as lower level programming is always a good thing.
Another thing to take into consideration is Dx is also going to evolve. MS knows that their whole PC gaming and Xbox ecosystem depends on developers using Dx. I bet future Dx releases will no doubt contain a lot of lower level API functions.

Mantle increases my epeen by 45% when discussing Mantle.

Ok, from what I've seen si far, I'm pretty impressed. Even a 4770 with 290x gains quite a bit of performance. So I'm assuming with my less powerful cpu and more gpu grunt I should see a big increase in performance.

Very nice looking thus far; particularly for Mainstream Gamers, CPU bound games (RTS anyone?) and perhaps for Crossfire? If Mantle gives ~10% for enthusiast CPU setups with a single r9 290, then I can only wonder if it will be higher then that for dual GPUs, hopefully.
