Doesn't the PCIe 4.0 spec have higher tolerances? Being on-par quality isn't an option; it has to be improved.

That's what I meant: if quality doesn't go up, charging more seems inadequate.

The MSI prices were in line on what they said on their live stream covering B550 as far as MSRP prices go. The ASrock Taichi B550 being the same price as the X570 variant makes no sense the user would just go for the x570 version. With the B550 version of the Asus ROG Strix B550-E Gaming I would probably recommend getting that version of the board due to the fact it doesn't have a chipset fan that you don't have to worry about covering up the fan holes for exhaust with a large GPU.

I really wish they should have maintained the tradition of the BX50 line in having the best balance on affordability and features. The moment I saw the B550 models, I knew the pricing will be higher. They beefed up the B550s closer to X570s to increase profit since majority always go for the BX50 series.

I think the B550 is worth it, especially as the build quality is very high with the new componentry. In looking at all those sexy VRM's needed for a Ryzen 9 or 7.
I am very curious as to what the future holds with motherboards more expensive at the lower end. really, the B550 is over priced for an APU but it's a very nice alternative for a CPU.

B550 makes sense, as the only primary devices that use PCIe 4.0 are GPUs and SSDs.
I don't remember seeing anywhere any x1 device that uses PCIe 4.0, so all those fancy lanes in X570 are going to run at 3.0 at best all the time.
Yes there is higher bandwidth between CPU and X570, but how often would anyone actually need that ?

So the people that fussed about having B450 boards getting more life should be applauded. Glad they got AMD to change their minds on all that.

With Matisse, CPU overclocking is mostly useless, memory and IF overclocking is where the gains is. So basically for entry level MB when using "only" 8 cores CPU or less, the next to be released "a520?" will certainly be enough. There is already YouTube videos of 3900x on a320 and it run without problems if you run it at stock.
