Only Intruder:

I wonder if there will be versions of the 5600XT with 14gbps ram chips for 336GB/s bandwidth (if at the same memory clocks)? I reckon this card is going to be bottlenecked by memory bandwidth and overclocking gains will be on memory more than core clocks for this card
Pointless as they are gonna be more expensive variants due to customizations. Just buy the cheapest 5700 you can afford. 'No reason' to place a gpu between 5600xt and 5700 at all!

Why pointless? There's a $100 gap between 5600 XT and 5700 (msrp)

There are no opponents in between there, so. Pointless from marketing point at least. 1660ti/2060 vs 5600xt 2060s vs 5700 2070s vs 5700xt Give amd a reason why they should produce another gpu, they cut down both amount and bandwidth of the memory for a reason. You make a suggestion for only 100 gap. If this is the way it works Nvidia should provide 10 more gpus at least. But ain't gonna happen.

Why do you say "only $100"? - That's quite a fair bit of money but I'm really speculating on performance. We know that 5700/5700XT sees more performance gains with it's memory improved and I can certainly see the same happening with the 5600XT. And if we speculate on pricing wars between Nvidia and AMD, I could imagine the following scenario - Nvidia lowers prices on their respective competitive products, AMD follows suit, I can see 5600XT being dropped to $249 and then there would be a juicy slot for a $299 5600XTX Edit: I understand currently it looks unlikely, again this is speculative, I'm more interested on the performance of the card with regards to the memory bandwidth and how performance will scale in relation but the $200-$300 price range is a very competitive price point nevertheless.

Brutal how people take a product so personally. They want to make money of you, remember? You like it? Buy it. Don't like it? Don't buy it. Simple.

I think its gonna be decent card for the money. With those specs it should be very close to rtx2060 and still be cheaper.
data/avatar/default/avatar40.webp
It's going for a gap - Nvidia really have nothing worth getting between the $230 1660 super and the $330 2060. Hence it should sell pretty well.

Yet another midrange gpu... Yawn...

The way this goes is bad. They are acting like they have abandoned anything capable of 1440p/120fps, 2160p/60fps. Plot twist, Intel goes for high end from 2021, amd stays midrange for ever. πŸ˜€

AMD will bring us an high end gpu, Lisa said they will compete. I never though AMD will keep up with Intel in cpu space but look at the 3990X now, smashing.

Surely, as a customer, I agree with you, even I would consider the existence of a 5600XTX as a success story, the question is, IF AMD would think that could cannibalize 5700/XT series sales. πŸ˜• Do not forget if they release 5800/5900 series, they could drop pricing of 5700/XT series later. πŸ˜‰

Zen 3 will be the coffin nail for Intel CPUs dusty crown and Intel inside logo. As I said on another thread, priorities. AMD is like an assassin at the moment, firstly the blue target, next is the green one. πŸ™‚

But you can game at 1440p 120fps with a 5700XT. Depends entirely on the game, of course.

Eastcoasthandle:

It will be. AMD will charge more if it's better/faster. However, if you want it for that price you better order it on 1/21/2020. If this card becomes an on demand card I can see retailers charging much more.
On online shop like Amazon and other it is the rule yes... But on real shop the price will stay at real one (and most of the time less expensive than online, exemple on this Xmas where we have get more for less money going in real shop). Going out is not only good for health, and see people but also good for the wallet πŸ˜‰

There are games and there are also real games. MOBA and MMORPG genres aren't exactly classified as true gaming hours. Neither e-sports with simplistic graphic engines for high refresh rates! :P
data/avatar/default/avatar34.webp
As it has the same number of cores, ROPs etc it will be interesting to see how well it overclocks. 5700 for cheap on the gpu side? I'll be interested to see how much the reduced bandwidth on the memory bus side affects the performance aw well. That could actually be the limiting factor performance wise.

Oh, but to get those framerates you need a way more expensive CPU as well. But oh well, if you can't classify games as "proper gaming" - that's just dumb, you know? Besides, I can pull 100+ FPS on BF5 at ultra at 3440x1440 with my 5700 XT... so, I dunno.

"Over at CES AMD just announced the Radeon RX 5600 XT, which will be available starting the 21st of this month at a price of 279 USD for the reference models." So, I gather that the card depicted in the third photo is the $279 USD reference model? Available directly from AMD? Looks somewhat similar to the PowerColor Red Dragon model. (I believe the fan-diameter on the Dragon is larger.) A $279 price-tag on the reference model totally implies that certain AIB models will likely cross the $300 USD threshold. (I'd pretty much bet the house the ASUS ROG Strix will, because ASUS.) Now, I may have been mildly intoxicated at the time, but I'm pretty sure I saw some RX 5700 jammies for sale over the holidays for about $319.99 USD. While I think $249 ~ $259 for the reference model would have been a better starting-point, perhaps AMD is trying to thread the needle, price-wise, between having stock to sell and empty shelves with regard to 7nm production capacity.
