Are these "people" still promising shtuff.....?! AMD needs a hailmary like none other these days. Just so sick and tired of their feeble attempts at providing an actual CPU that can stand up against Intel. Just for the money sake of things I'd love to see some sort of competition. As opposed to smoke and mirrors riding along their pipe dreams. Because as it sits their newest of the new hardware (CPU) does not hold a candle to what Intel has already been doing.

Kid, if all you're going to do is flame in every single AMD article, I suggest you stop posting altogether. Fanboyisim is poison.

First of all, these are just to hold over AMD until Zen comes out, and I don't see anybody making promises here. If AMD felt these were a solid competitor to Intel, they would've done more than just OEM releases by now. Compared to FM2+ CPUs, these are based on excavator while using a die shrink and DDR4. The overall performance of these should be roughly head-to-head with Sandy Bridge. Sure, that's a long way away from Skylake, but for AMD that's a big step forward.

I am going to ask that you stop we these flame posts. This is not the first AMD topic you have trolled.

I would totally buy a new cpu based on zen if they released one for the fm2+ socket i know its unlikely but it would make me happy and fm2+ is'nt even very old and has tonnes of features.

Pretty sure they are making it all unified with AM4.

Yep, single socket with 3 different chipsets by the looks of it

I'm no CPU engineer, but it seems to me it would be a huge amount of work for them to make it work with old sockets and chipsets. Unfortunately AMD wouldn't even have the money to do any extra work. Even Intel doesn't do stuff like that, despite their practically unlimited budget.

I'm pretty sure that's what the point of going to a single socket was for AMD. Look at all of AM3, there has been no major differences in platform since the original release. Heck AM3 pretty much was just DDR3 memory controllers, which is the only difference it had from AM2+. But memory controller, PCIE controllers, Sata controllers, everything has been the same to the point where board partners would have to add their own third party controllers to AM3+ boards. Now it's going to be all native, and that always has the best performance.
