To bad it's Windows Store only.
I made a MS Account once to access it, and it was a complete nightmare, i had to login everytime i started my PC. And wasn't able to revert back to Local Account for Windows.

That annoyed me as well, but it's just the default setting and takes about 10 seconds to set it to login automatically.
I can't say i have ever properly played an Age of Empires game, think the most time I spent was on a a demo of AoE2 (I think) which came bundled with Windows 98SE (I think)

Only got into AOE3 which I liked. Couldn't get into 1 or 2 because seemed dated and less involving. I'm sure they were fantastic during their time, but only AOE3 did it for me.

I hope they modernized the unit building queue. It's pretty dumb if you play on 4K but still can only set 1 troop to train at a time

Been playing Age of Empires 2 HD for the last month after snagging it super cheap during the Steam Winter Sale. I've already wasted 140hours and only about 20% done! Such a fun game to play to kill time. I was rather surprised there is still such a large multiplayer community. Never could get into AoE3 after spending much of my early teens playing AoE2.

I personally found the AOE experience rather boring and bland compared to Starcraft.
In AOE all units were effectively the same apart from maybe 1 or 2 special units.
At least in Starcraft every single unit was unique, which is why I thought it was boring. Age of Mythology was so much more intriguing.

Windows store only just means they're missing out on sales. Oh well, they don't want to make money, just to promote their crap store.

I would love this even more if they bother to update animation fps to the units , cause units still look like there stop and go animated

Oops!
Age of Empires: Definitive Edition is now available in the Microsoft Store, and while many rushed to buy it on day 1, it appears that the game is actually crashing on launch of many.
The majority of recently-published comments have rated the game with one star, especially because it crashes on launch. Age of Empires: Definitive Edition currently has a 2.8 rating,
and most 1-star reviews are at 46% were posted on February 20, shortly after the game became available for download from the Microsoft Store.
“I was extremely looking forward to this game. Big fan of the series and have been anticipates its return. Doesn’t even work. Launches then immediately boots you to desktop when you try to start single player/multiplayer or any of the core game modes. Unacceptable and disappointing,” one of the users who purchased the game explained.
“I’ve waited for a week for opening day and the game does not boot up, does not launch. You take the money and give no honey,” another one adds.
"Couldn't install on my first PC, managed to install on the laptop and its bloody shi*t, how is it Microsoft can destroy a game that use to run on a calculator? 17G for this? Don't buy it crashes and run so badly any slower it would be in reverse. 3".
At this point, it’s not yet clear what causes the bug, but the support page recommends users to uninstall and reinstall the game.

Store and UWP shenanigans again? I remember store Kodi having BSOD issues lol.
fantaskarsef
I wonder on how many sales they miss out with UWP only until they release a Steam version, if they do.

...I already had the "free" DX12 and DX11 versions by then.
Promoting piracy?Give me a break.
Ask MS with their garbage store and releases: THEY actively promote and encourage piracy.
I bought Quantum Break for Steam (DX11) when i saw it released on the January 2017 Humble Bundle monthly along The Long Dark, and Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IIIT for 12$.
