These all modern keyboards which are supposed to be interesting look like i went back in time to XX century. I do not mean rgb lightning, i mean high a f keycaps. In long time in news i haven't seen any keyboard with as low keys as possible. WTF is wrong with keyboards industry nowadays? I would love to replace my keyboard with something new and decent but seems to be impossible. My current keyboard is microsoft digital media keyboard 3000. I love its keyboard layour, it is simplistic yet very intuitive and ergonomic. I like it has basic extra keys like calculator key over numpad section (logic, right?), media player keys (next, prev, pause, play, stop), few more other useful keys and few more to bind anything to them. And the most important thing: low keys, not like this something in this news which looks like keycaps hovering high over surface of a keyboard.
If anyone knows decent replacement for my keyboard let me know. I do not care about rgb so if it is present on keyboard or not it doesn't matter to me as long as i can disable it or set some quiet profile for it. Also sound of keypresses, these mechanical pos-es usually are loud a f.

^ some time ago we had here news about low travel MX switch. Issue you point out is real. Caused by fact that most of membrane keyboards are not even worth mentioning and mechanical keyboards have high keys due to switch design.
I too love low travel slim keyboards, but went for full travel mechanical. Maybe in few years there will be sufficient number of products with low height keys and travel and I'll replace mine then. But now, it is simply consequence of technology enabling other technology.
Wife of my cousin has ~$6 keyboard with low height and low travel keycaps. She has it for few years and every time I use it, I am like: "So cool, so cool." It works as well as it did 1st day I was installing that system. That's awesome value.

If you need macros, then learn 4g3d
If you want low profile keyboards search for keyboards with scissors switches like in laptops.

Lately, Cherry and Kailh released low profile mechanical switches.
