Thermaltake is well known among PC enthusiasts around the world by its unique design and great thermal performance.

With the black powder coating interior, M5 looks stylish in and out. For user friendly consideration, M5 has integrated the Tool-free mechanism for 5.25, 3.5 devices and PCI slots, saving so much more time on installation. As for thermal consideration, M5 can hold up to 6 fans max to optimize the system airflow. Dells Mini Inspiron laptop exposed

Generic News 1994 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

The guys from gizmodo bumped into Michael Dell at All Things D, and he was nice enough to show this laptop that he was carrying that he said no one's seen before.

It's a small form factor notebook, just like the Asus Eee and the HP 2133. He wouldn't tell me what OS it's running, or the pricing, but that it's a low-cost notebook meant for developing countries, and I hope here. Maybe it's Atom-powered. Who knows? But they did see three USB ports, a card reader, VGA out, Ethernet, and that red candy shell. I couldn't tell how big the screen was before it was tucked away into a black sleeve and ushered from the building, but it's small.

Dell just released a pair of shots that add to the sense of scale, but no official name yet.

iChill GeForce 9600 GT ZEROtherm Hurricane review

A DIY kit graphics card - Luckily there are some NVIDIA board partners who try to do things differently & Inno3D is one of them. Actually I think Inno3D has like five or six different SKUs based on the GeForce 9600 GT, but one stands out. It's their GeForce 9600 GT iChill edition graphics card with ZeroTherm HC92 cooler. It's actually a DIY kit with the very best cooler we ever tested. Next to a standard overclock, the tweaking possibilities are even better.

Did we just find the best GeForce 9600 GT that money can buy ?

Sony 360-degree glass speaker system

Speakers 98 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

Weirdest thing you ever have seen, trust me.

Sony today announced it would translate one of its concept speaker designs into a production device. The Sountina promises a radical approach to sound by outputting the same sound at 360 degrees from the speaker itself: an upward-facing driver vibrates a glass tube that in turn pushes sound outwards in all directions rather than in a cone, as with traditional speakers. The change both leads to a new look as well as reducing the horizontal footprint of the Sountina.

The audio equipment also promises a unique visual effect through an amber, blue, and purple LED lighting system that can be remotely controlled to change the ambient effect for the room; the same controller can also fine-tune audio settings for the actual speaker.

Sony outfits the Sountina with inputs for conventional RCA audio, digital audio through co-ax or optical connections, and two-channel linear PCM; despite its narrow and unusual design, the 85-watt device supports a subwoofer and can still generate frequencies between 50Hz and 20KHz, according to the company.

The Japanese firm expects a quick turnaround for its new speaker and will begin selling it on June 20th for a premium price equivalent to $10,091; the Sountina is pitched at both private buyers as well as stores and other public places. A US launch isn't mentioned with the announcement, though Sony has recently brought over unique designs such as the XEL-1 OLED TV and the Rolly music player.

Diamond has a cool PC in the works !

Generic News 1994 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

It's a bit unusual to see a graphics card manufacturer team up with an American system builder. But they did so with Smooth Creations. Smooth Creations has a reputation from its custom painted casings and this system is certainly something else.

The machine is powered with already mentioned Diamond Radeon 3870 X2 dual chip card, Phenom 9750, AMD 700-SB600 based Abit AX78 board, 4GB of Kingston memory, 500GB Western Digital hard drive and Coolit Systems Eliminator CPU water cooler. Next to that it is powered with Cooler Master Peal Power Pro 1250 power supply. According to the vendors the machine is enough to score 14019 3DMark06, though I prefer to see actual game results.

The machine is already available at SmoothCreations.com and it costs a steep $2,262.92. Though Guru3D has to admit, that rig is looking frickin' cool. I wouldn't mind seeing that with a Guru3D.com spraypaint !

ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 in mid-Q3 ?

Graphics Cards 1673 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

Guru3D.com ImageIt is rumored that an AMD Radeon HD 4870 X2 dual-GPU graphics card will be released with an arrival in mid-Q3 2008 and that it will be cheaper than a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 graphics card.

Much like the last-gen products ATI seems to bridge two chips on one PCB. The big downside to this is that the card will be dependent on the drivers as it uses ATI's multi-GPU solution CrossFireX for linking the performance of the two GPUs, and the drivers is suppose to be one of the bigger reasons AMD is holding off the launch until mid-Q3. The other reason is that AMD wants to make sure that it can pump out enough regular Radeon HD 4870 cards first without the GDDR5 supply becoming an issue.

AMD believes that 4870 and 4850 are the cards that will hurt NVIDIA the most.

If the supply of GDDR5 chips is solid, or at least sufficient, and the drivers are adequate, AMD will present its new flagship in August at a price which is below that of NVIDIA's flagship product GeForce GTX 280. Stories are going around that it could be anywhere between $450-550. Even though it uses two chips, it is suppose to be a Cool N' Quiet card. We say that knowing that the cooler isn't even finished yet, but we also know that AMD has no intention of launching a card that runs hot and makes a lot of noise, and that the previous generation cooler was a rather good one.

Arctic Cooling Introduces Freezer Xtreme Twin-Tower Cooler

Generic News 1994 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

Well, it definitely is a little extreme. Arctic Cooling today unveiled the Freezer Xtreme, adding an Intel and AMD compatible product into their CPU cooler product line.

The original twin-tower heatsink consists of 102 fins. The 120mm PWM fan combined with 8 heatpipes (4 double-sided) and the heatsink also cools RAM, Northbridge and voltage regulators. Together with the pre-applied MX-2, the Freezer Xtreme offers improved performance and achieves 160 Watts cooling capacity.

The 120mm fan of the Freezer Xtreme is equipped with low-noise impeller and patented fan holder for quiet operation. Controlled by PWM signal, the fan runs just the necessary speed for the lowest noise level. As a result, Freezer Xtreme generates only 0.5 Sone at full load.

Backed by a 6-year limited warranty, Freezer Xtreme will be available in July 2008 with the MSRP of US$39.95 and

Venetica Announced

Games 1603 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

I noticed over at ggmania that Adventure game developer Deck13 and German publisher dtp entertainment sent out a press release announcing Venetica, an old-timey RPG starring Scarlett, the daughter of Death. dtp entertainment is going to release Venetica in 2009 for PC and the Xbox 360.

And I gotta tell you .. that game is looking to be pretty amazing.

In the era of Venetica, Death walks among the living as a flesh & blood being, carrying out the deeds of an ancient council known by a few as Corpus. Each generation of the Corpus is set with the task of selecting the next predecessor of the bringer of death. Unfortunately, the most recent council had unwittingly selected a crafty necromancer who is determined on bringing death and destruction to the world. This conniving imposter has managed to transform into an undead fiend, which no mortal man can kill. This power-crazed necromancer is hell-bent on destroying the reinstated Death and the council of Corpus. Only one person stands in his way, Scarlett, the daughter of Death. Up to now she has known nothing of her origins, her powers and the capabilities that she possesses - now she is challenged to learn how to develop and use her powers to save her father and curse the necromancer and his henchmen to the eternal hereafter.
