It's a small form factor notebook, just like the Asus Eee and the HP 2133. He wouldn't tell me what OS it's running, or the pricing, but that it's a low-cost notebook meant for developing countries, and I hope here. Maybe it's Atom-powered. Who knows? But they did see three USB ports, a card reader, VGA out, Ethernet, and that red candy shell. I couldn't tell how big the screen was before it was tucked away into a black sleeve and ushered from the building, but it's small. 

Dell just released a pair of shots that add to the sense of scale, but no official name yet.

Sony today announced it would translate one of its concept speaker designs into a production device. The Sountina promises a radical approach to sound by outputting the same sound at 360 degrees from the speaker itself: an upward-facing driver vibrates a glass tube that in turn pushes sound outwards in all directions rather than in a cone, as with traditional speakers. The change both leads to a new look as well as reducing the horizontal footprint of the Sountina.

The audio equipment also promises a unique visual effect through an amber, blue, and purple LED lighting system that can be remotely controlled to change the ambient effect for the room; the same controller can also fine-tune audio settings for the actual speaker.

Sony outfits the Sountina with inputs for conventional RCA audio, digital audio through co-ax or optical connections, and two-channel linear PCM; despite its narrow and unusual design, the 85-watt device supports a subwoofer and can still generate frequencies between 50Hz and 20KHz, according to the company.

The Japanese firm expects a quick turnaround for its new speaker and will begin selling it on June 20th for a premium price equivalent to $10,091; the Sountina is pitched at both private buyers as well as stores and other public places. A US launch isn't mentioned with the announcement, though Sony has recently brought over unique designs such as the XEL-1 OLED TV and the Rolly music player.

Street Fighter IV is, indeed, coming to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, Capcom announced today, confirming rumors that first surfaced yesterday online.

Street Fighter IV is the first "new" Street Fighter game in quite a while, as Capcom has previously focused on varying versions of its popular Street Fighter II arcade game. Last we checked, the series stood at the Street Fighter II: Hyper Mega Super-Duper Tricked-Out Ultra Edition.

Street Fighter IV has a distinctive new look even though it's still a 2D game.

The machine is powered with already mentioned Diamond Radeon 3870 X2 dual chip card, Phenom 9750, AMD 700-SB600 based Abit AX78 board, 4GB of Kingston memory, 500GB Western Digital hard drive and Coolit Systems Eliminator CPU water cooler. It is rumored that an AMD Radeon HD 4870 X2 dual-GPU graphics card will be released with an arrival in mid-Q3 2008 and that it will be cheaper than a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 graphics card.

Much like the last-gen products ATI seems to bridge two chips on one PCB. The big downside to this is that the card will be dependent on the drivers as it uses ATI's multi-GPU solution CrossFireX for linking the performance of the two GPUs, and the drivers is suppose to be one of the bigger reasons AMD is holding off the launch until mid-Q3. The other reason is that AMD wants to make sure that it can pump out enough regular Radeon HD 4870 cards first without the GDDR5 supply becoming an issue.

AMD believes that 4870 and 4850 are the cards that will hurt NVIDIA the most.

If the supply of GDDR5 chips is solid, or at least sufficient, and the drivers are adequate, AMD will present its new flagship in August at a price which is below that of NVIDIA's flagship product GeForce GTX 280. Stories are going around that it could be anywhere between $450-550. Even though it uses two chips, it is suppose to be a Cool N' Quiet card. We say that knowing that the cooler isn't even finished yet, but we also know that AMD has no intention of launching a card that runs hot and makes a lot of noise, and that the previous generation cooler was a rather good one.

The RMAA suite, designed for testing quality of analog and digital paths of any audio devices, was updated to version 6.1.0.

I noticed over at ggmania that Adventure game developer Deck13 and German publisher dtp entertainment sent out a press release announcing Venetica, an old-timey RPG starring Scarlett, the daughter of Death. dtp entertainment is going to release Venetica in 2009 for PC and the Xbox 360.
