Seperately, the Coalition today announced Gears of War 5’s release date. The new game will include a new Escape mode that’s an aggressive 3-player co-op experience.

Gears of War 5 will apparently go beyond what you have come to expect from Gears of War in the past and introduce new modes such as “Arcade” as well. The game will be available on Xbox Game Pass, for PCs as well as the Xbox One.

The Coalition will reveal more about the new Gears over the coming months. The game will be available on September 10, launching on Xbox Game Pass.

Microsoft also shared a glimpse of the future with Project Scarlett, which launches alongside Halo Infinite in 2020.

Next-Gen Xbox Elite Controller

Microsoft also unveiled the new Xbox Elite controller at E3 today. It’s called the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2.

The company says it has completely rebuilt the controller from the ground-up, re-engineering the entire product.

There’s a total of 30 new features on the next-gen Elite controller:

  • New adjustable-tension thumbsticks
  • Higher precision control
  • New trigger grip and redesigned bumpers
  • Shorter hair trigger locks
  • New wrap-around rubberized grip design
  • New thumbstick and paddle options
  • Three new profiles for different games you play
  • Bluetooth connectivity, USB-C
  • Internal rechargeable battery, with new detachable charging dock
  • 40 hours of battery life

A new feature that comes with the Elite Series 2 is adjustable-tension thumbsticks. You can choose between three different resistance settings, including options to match the same thumbstick resistance as Xbox 360 or standard Xbox One controllers. The new controller also comes with an additional, shorter hair trigger lock setting where the trigger pull distance is shorter than ever, helping you fire faster. The controller now automatically recognizes adjustments to the hair trigger locks, so you won’t need to make changes in the Xbox Accessories app each time you change the trigger locks. Additionally, new wrap-around rubberized grips extend to the top of the controller for more control and comfort.
