Electronic Arts and Lucasfilm Games have partnered to continue creating Star Wars games. This time, they announced the production of three new games by Respawn Entertainment, the studio responsible for Apex Legends, Titanfall, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Vince Zampella, Respawn's founder, will supervise this new chapter of ties with Lucasfilm, expanding on Respawn's experience making games with inspiring storylines set in the Star Wars world, for which the studio received several nominations and accolades. Stig Asmussen, the studio's game director, and his team are already hard at work on the sequel to the Star Wars Jedi action-adventure franchise. The second product is a new Star Wars first-person shooter led by Respawn's Peter Hirschmann, who has a lengthy and successful relationship with the Star Wars franchise.

The third title is a strategy game developed in partnership with Greg Foerstch's newly formed Bit Reactor firm. Respawn will build the new Star Wars strategy game, with Bit Reactor taking the lead on development.

Lucasfilm Games has a lengthy history of developing Star Wars-themed action games. Of course, we're referring to the critically acclaimed Dark Forces franchise (Dark Forces 1 and Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight), which eventually expanded to include Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy.

Given EA's new collaboration with Respawn and Lucasfilm, we might expect something along these lines for their upcoming first-person shooter. For those unfamiliar, the Jedi Knight story follows self-taught Jedi Kyle Katarn as he battles to destroy a Sith faction parallel to the Empire's control while avoiding succumbing to the desire for vengeance against the Jedi's leader. Jerec, the wicked, had murdered his father.
