Onda, a Chinese motherboard maker, has introduced the H610M+ motherboard which adds DDR4 and DDR5 memory compatibility to Intel's 12th Generation Alder Lake CPUs. The only restriction is that users can only utilize one DIMM at a time.

The H610M+ has one DDR4 and one DDR5 memory slot. DDR4-3200 and DDR5-4800 memory modules with a maximum capacity of 32GB are supported by the motherboard. Because the H610 chipset only supports one DIMM per channel, H610-based motherboards have just two memory slots. Conventional models come with either DDR5 or DDR4 slots, however the seller chose to include one of each in Onda's H610M+ motherboard. The manufacturer did not clarify how the memory slots function, but we think the motherboard can only handle one type of memory at a time.

One significant disadvantage is that dual-channel memory cannot be used on the Onda H610M+, resulting in significant performance degradation. When using a single DIMM instead of a dual-DIMM arrangement, you might lose up to 15% performance with DDR5. The H610M+ features an 8-phase power delivery subsystem and fits within the microATX form factor. Because to the delicate design, the motherboard only supports Alder Lake SKUs up to Core i7 models, excluding buyers from the finest CPUs. The motherboard does, however, provide an extra 8-pin EPS power connection to guarantee that the compatible CPUs receive adequate power.

For expansion, Onda's motherboard has one PCIe 5.0 x16 slot and one PCIe x1 slot. It also has three SATA III connections and one M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 storage slot. An extra M.2 slot is available, although it is just for WiFi adapters.

A PS/2 combination port, two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, a Gigabit Ethernet port, and three conventional 3.5mm audio jacks are included on the motherboard's rear panel. There's also a USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 header onboard, which adds two more USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports to the mix. Finally, for customers who will not be utilizing a standalone graphics card, the H610M+ includes a VGA and an HDMI connector for accessing Alder Lake's integrated graphics. The Onda H610M+ has yet to be released by any Chinese shops, therefore pricing is unknown.
