Sony unveiled its latest creation: the MDR-MV1 back-open monitor headphones. These headphones are designed to cater specifically to the needs of creators and will be available for purchase from May 12th at an estimated market price of around €450.

The MDR-MV1 features a back-open housing acoustic structure that eliminates the need for acoustic blocking. This results in reduced reflected sound inside the headphones, and minimal interference with signal processing, which together create an accurate sound field reproduction. The headphone design also includes a widened opening that connects the front and back of the driver unit, and optimizes ventilation control with the acoustic register, resulting in natural and full bass frequencies, which are faithful to the sound field intended by creators.

The MDR-MV1 headphones boast a 40mm dedicated driver unit that supports ultra-wideband playback of 5Hz to 80kHz and wide dynamic range playback. Equipped with a flexible diaphragm, the unit accurately reproduces the localization and spatial information of the stereophonic sound source.

Additionally, the MDR-MV1 headphones feature comfortable suede-like artificial leather and thick, low-rebound urethane foam ear pads that provide a comfortable fit, and a detachable cable that is easy to maintain and can be connected to a variety of connections. With a maximum input of 1,500mW, an impedance of 24Ω (1kHz), sensitivity of 100dB/mW, and a weight of about 223g (excluding cable), the MDR-MV1 headphones are packed with features that cater to creators' needs.
