If you read the previous news-item, you will have noticed that Skylake processors (Core series 6000) will be based on Socket LGA1151. A company called Colorful just is showing an iGame-Z170 motherboard and guess what, it is Socket LGA1151 based.

According to TPU and WccFtech who spotted this on an Asian website, Colorful will launch three versions of this motherboard. The motherboard will be based on Intels upcoming Z170 Express chipset, for the 6th generation Core "Skylake" processors. The iGame-Z170U would feature DDR4 DIMM slots (up to 64 GB) where the other models will be DDR3 (up to 32 GB based).

If you look at the board you'll spot a number of things:

  • 14-phase CPU VRM
  • Two PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots (x8/x8 when both are populated)
  • Third PCI-Express x4 slot wired to the PCH
  • 3x PCI-Express x1 slots
  • Six SATA 6 Gb/s - one SATA-Express, one M.2 10 Gbps
  • Two USB 3.1 ports
  • Six USB 3.0 ports
  • Gigabit Ethernet

It is expected that the Z170 series will launch somewhere in the Q3, 2015 timeframe. below photo's of the product.

Bunny included or not?

Still only one SATA Express port, wished this would pick up speed and finally see some SSDs based on the new standard.

Well I'm glad I opened this on my phone and not on my work computer. Those bunny pictures weren't there before and perhaps some sort of note would be good before others open this. I know it's not porn or anything but it's still deemed a bit fruity for work.
