Samsung UHD UE590 and UE850 Monitors Have FreeSync

Samsung UHD UE590 and UE850 Monitors Have FreeSync

More FreeSync news. Samsung has expanded its ultra high-definition (UHD) monitor portfolio. The new UE590 and UE850 UHD monitors offer rich picture contrast and rapid response time. Both models support ultra HD 3840 x 2160 resolutions and AMD FreeSync dynamic refresh rates as key features.

The U24E590D offers a 4ms G2G response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness, 178/178 viewing angles, 16.7m colour depth and sRGB gamut. We're not aware of any 23.5" sized panels which meet this spec, and in fact the panelook website doesn't list any modules at all in that diagonal. We wonder if the screen size was perhaps a slight typo as the spec seems to line up with Samsung's PLS panel available in 23.6" size nicely (LTM236FL01). The stand offers only a basic tilt adjustment, and there are HDMI, HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort connections offered. PiP and PbP are supported.

The 28" U28E590D has a lot of the same features and connections but the panel spec is different. It is using a TN Film panel offering 1ms G2G response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 370 cd/m2 brightness, 170/160 viewing angles, 1.07b colour depth and sRGB gamut.

Available in 23.5- and 28-inch models, the UE590 is most applicable for high-quality entertainment seekers and avid gamers who require immersive visual detail. Alternatively, the UE850’s (23.5-, 28- and 31.5-inch models) improved resolution and dynamic connectivity drive efficiency for professional, creative and analytical tasks. Combined with ergonomic and environmentally-friendly advancements, the UE590 and UE850 monitors deliver a complete, comfortable viewing experience.

“True-to-life picture quality and image reproduction accuracy are critical to the display experience, improving functionality and productivity, and creating an immersive in-home entertainment experience,”saidSeog-gi Kim, Vice President and Head of the Enterprise Business Team, Visual Display Business, Samsung Electronics. “By addressing the various needs of consumers and professionals, our advanced UE590 and UE850 monitors continue the rapid transition of display technology and digital signage to a new UHD standard.”

Enhanced Visual Performance

Through the presentation of more than 8 million pixels and four-times the detail clarity of full high-definition (FHD) alternatives, the UE590 and UE850 provide the most accurate image recreation possible

Samsung’s new monitors create a true UHD viewing experience through a host of embedded picture- and game-enhancing functions. The UE590 and UE850 are the only UHD monitors supporting AMD FreeSync technology, which synchronizes the refresh rate of the monitor to the frame rate of a user’s AMD graphic card for a smooth, responsive and tearing-free game. Response times as fast as one millisecond in the 28-inch models also allows gamers to see even the fastest on-screen action clearly and smoothly without motion blur or ghosting, while a 60 Hz refresh rate further eliminates picture choppiness and fosters a smoother, non-distracting viewing environment.

Versatile Multi-Tasking Connectivity

By offering advanced connectivity, the UHD monitors expand user functionality for greater flexibility and convenience. While both UHD monitors have integrated DisplayPort (DP) and HDMI ports, the 28- and 31.5-inch UE850 business monitors feature a Quad Interface that seamlessly connects with DP 2.1, miniDP, HDMI 2.0 and HDMI 1.4a sources. HDMI 2.0 and DP 2.1 support 4K resolution at 60Hz, which is double the maximum resolution of HDMI 1.4a (4K at 30Hz).

The UE850 also comes with four USB 3.0 ports, with two offering super-charging capability. Since the super-charging USBs enable the simultaneous charging of multiple mobile devices that is three times faster than a normal USB 2.0 port, the need for a docking station is eliminated. As a result, professionals can upload and view almost any content type while concurrently charging multiple devices.

To promote productivity, the UE590 and UE850 allow users to align on-screen content with their specific viewing needs. A Picture-by-Picture (PBP) mode ensures content can be displayed from two different input sources while maintaining picture quality. Similarly, up to 25 percent of the screen can be repositioned and resized anywhere within the screen using the Picture-in-Picture 2.0 (PiP) mode.

Another day, another post about new monitors that nobody can buy because none of the big UK hardware sites/shops actually buy/stock them to sell. And with the rate of new monitors coming out every minute of the day how could the big shops keep up with them...

I own the Samsung U28D590D model which i believe has the same panels as these, mine advertised that it has 1MS response time but it is a big fat lie. It can claim 1MS because under the "Fastest" setting of response in the menu, the monitor will distort the colors with a weird ghosting effect just to wash out the effects on the screen to technically make it 1ms. Yes... 1ms but with a TON of Ghosting... and even then, the input lag is very high, the monitor is great for many games but you'll have your rear end handed to you in a timing sensitive online game.
