Samsung's new Galaxy S9 smartphone will be announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which is at the end of February. A release date hasn't been mentioned, Samsung unveiled its predecessor, the Galaxy S8, during an event in March. Erego availability might be April.

Little is known about the S9 at the moment. It is expected that the device does not deviate much from the Samsung Galaxy S8 in terms of design. However, the fingerprint scanner on the back is probably placed under the camera. That scanner is now next to the camera. The design of the Galaxy S9 and S9 + would be almost identical to that of the S8 and S8 + according to previous reports. The smartphones are reportedly receiving stereo speakers and retaining the 3.5 mm jack.

DJ Koh, president of Samsung's mobile business, said its first flagship smartphone of the year will be unveiled at the trade show in February with the sales date also announced at the event, at a press conference at CES in Las Vegas. There were rumors that the South Korean tech giant would unveil the phone at CES prior to the start of the show. Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S8 last year at an Unpacked Event in March in New York and start selling the device in April. The unveiling of the Galaxy S9 comes a month earlier and sales will likely begin in March this year reports ZDNet.
