Samsung Releases PRO Plus and EVO Plus Memory Cards

Samsung introduced its latest memory card lineups, PRO Plus and EVO Plus, with higher read and write speeds of up to 95MB/s and 90 MB/s respectively.

Samsung's new PRO Plus is equipped to handle storing and transferring professional-grade photos and 4K UHD video content created from high-end DSLRs, smartphones, tablets and modern action cameras. With its higher read and write speeds of up to 95MB/s and 90 MB/s respectively, the PRO Plus SD cards and microSD cards satisfy both UHS-I Speed Class 3 (U3) and Class 10 performance levels.

The PRO Plus lineup comes in 64GB and 32GB storage capacities to meet the rising demand for large data and high-quality storage volumes. The 64GB PRO Plus memory card can record approximately 110 minutes of 4K UHD video or 490 minutes of Full HD video in action cameras or DSLR cameras without the need to change or replace the memory card.

The new EVO Plus memory cards are also available in SD and microSD form factors, and are equipped to meet the ever-increasing content creation and storage demands of smartphone, tablet, compact camera and Full HD camcorder users. The EVO Plus has read and write speeds up to 80MB/s and 20MB/s respectively that provide UHS-I Speed Class 1 (U1) and Class 10 performance, boasting a much more advanced read performance compared to the existing EVO lineup. The EVO Plus cards are capable of storing and transferring Full HD video content and select mobile applications, and provide an ideal solution for users who frequently store and send them through their smartphones, tablets and recording devices.

The EVO Plus cards are available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. With the highest capacity among the bunch, the 128GB version of EVO Plus card can store a maximum of 10,940 photos or 30,670 songs, or 980 minutes of Full HD video recording based on user settings and configurations.

Among the PRO Plus and EVO Plus cards, the SD cards are equipped with upgraded Samsung 5-proof features, which include waterproof, temperature proof, X-ray proof, magnetic proof and shock proof. Both Plus memory card lineups can now withstand 72 hours of being submerged in seawater, which is 48 more hours of improvement from that of the existing products.

All SD card models from PRO Plus, PRO, EVO Plus and EVO lineups, are designed to be compatible with any device with an SD or microSD slot, regardless of OEM brand and are guaranteed to survive operating temperatures from around -25°C to 85°C (-13°F to 185°F) and non-operating temperatures from around -40°C to 85°C (-40°F to 185°F). Data stored in the cards will not be affected by the X-rays and will resist up to 15,000 gauss magnetic force - the equivalent of a high-field MRI scanner. The PRO Plus and EVO Plus microSD cards also come with waterproof, temperature proof, X-ray proof and magnetic proof protection.

Samsung will offer the new microSD cards in May 2015 with SD cards to follow, further strengthening its presence in the global memory market including Korea, U.S., China, Europe and other regions.
