Ryzen 3000 processors get Soldered IHS

Ryzen 3000 processors get Soldered IHS

More news from the AMD front today. AMD Ryzen 3000 series processors will feature a soldered integrated heat spreader (IHS). This comes at no surprise as the previous AMD Ryzen processors also featured a soldered IHS.

A soldered IHS for the heat dissipation of the processor overall is better than using paste. Intel only uses soldered ihs for overclockable -K processors. The benefits of a soldered on IHS are much lower overall temperatures. AMD’s latest offering of “Matisse” processors, or Ryzen 3000 series, are expected to run pretty cool overall thanks to this and the fact that it is built on AMD’s new 7nm process (Zen 2). Ryzen 3000 will have a dual-chip module for the higher-end series, and a single internal core for mid to lower end. Additionally, there is a single 14nm controller die for that functions as I/O interface for what is called its chiplet design.

AMD personnel should go easy on memes and casual statements.

So much scrutiny.

+1 to AMD for doing this.
