Newly leaked SKU lists indicate that the Upcoming 11th Gen Intel processors will not just be based on the new Rocket Lake architecture design. Current Comet Lake generation processors would be inserted in the mix also.
New reports indocate that Core i5's i7 and i9 will use the Rocket Lake-S based on Cypress Cove architecture, 20 available PCIe lanes from the CPU itself, and the iGPU based on the Xe architecture. However, in the Core i3 and Pentium series a mix is found. Here Comet Lake-S ais used, according to the China-based sources.
It sounds plausible, and not a big deal either as for most people Core i5 and upwards is where it's at. Intel still has production issues and that could be the main reason behind this choice, freeing up recourses for the higher-end SKUs. Tabled up the lineup shows to be this:

whats the difference between 11900k and 11700k? i couldnt see any, maybe few hundred mhz..

Many people downgraded from 9900k to 3900x for gaming, so I guess people do strange stuff :p
