Great comprehensive review!
This looks to be a good mainstream card, with the only completion coming from used card sales really as far as I can see.
So is this the GPU Apple incorporated into their iMacs which probably caused AMD not to be able to sell it as a discrete GPU on its own?

Nice card, decently priced. It barely costs more than gtx960 4GB version. I would still rather buy second hand custom R9 290's thats around the same price.
And yeah, like always great review HH.

I'm missing Far Cry 4 / Dragon Age III Inquisition or more recent games in test.
Also this card fits more in Full HD resolution to play any games, not higher,
so showing comparing performance at 2560x1440 i find kind of useless.

I don't see the point comparing this card to a GTX 950 in the Ashes DX12 becnhmark.

This was what the R9 285 should have been. This performed roughly the way I expected it to. If the 285 had 4GB to begin with I'd have got it, but thankfully I got my 290 for a decent deal.
