NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4000 Ada Lovelace series design reportedly completed (5nm)

According to a leaker, NVIDIA's Ada Lovelace series of graphics cards will be released in the near future. The entire project has already been completed and nothing should change. This means that the specs that have been circulating the web for the past few months may be final, but there are no details on the architecture as of yet.

Furthermore, the leaker is confident that the architecture will be built using TSMC's 5nm process technology, but is unsure whether it will be N5 or N5P. Previous rumors only suggested 5nm, but it's unclear whether NVIDIA will use Samsung or TSMC for its 5nm product. According to TSMC, its N5P manufacturing nodes, when compared to N5, imply a 10% reduction in energy consumption and a 5% improvement in performance, though the company may sacrifice consumption improvements to add a greater increase in energy performance if deemed appropriate.

kopite7kim on the other hand is no longer certain that NVIDIA will use Ada Lovelace for the GeForce RTX 40 series, as indicated by his tweets in May. The performance of competing chips, particularly the AMD RDNA3, which will be the first MCM designs, may influence NVIDIA's strategy.

According to Kopite, NVIDIA may release Hooper GPUs for gaming instead of Ada Lovelace in 2022. The release date of the GeForce RTX 40 series appears to be the only thing that most leakers seem to agree on. NVIDIA's next update isn't expected until late 2022. NVIDIA's models have been conservative, with its gaming architecture changing every two years.

In terms of specifications, we only learned about Kopite's possible GPU internals in December. The flagship GPU for gaming (AD102) was revealed to have up to 144 Streaming Multiprocessors, implying a maximum specification of 18,432 shader cores. Obviously, in order to maintain good performance and consumption, NVIDIA would launch a reduced chip, rather than one with full power enabled.
