Media in China report that NVIDIA has plans to completely phase out its RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6 graphics cards in favour of the more powerful GDDR6X.

NVIDIA announced the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6X and the GeForce RTX 3060 with 8GB of memory last month. The firm has confirmed that these are 'additional options' from board partners, giving players more leeway in their decisions.

Unlike the release of slightly' modified cards, which is usually limited to a single region, the release of both SKUs was officially launched globally by all major board partners. MyDrivers reports that the GDDR6 RTX 3060 Ti SKU is being phased out by NVIDIA and its Add-in-Card (AIC) partners. There is a plan to switch out all of the current RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6 stock for GDDR6X variations. Also noteworthy is the fact that this GDDR6X upgrade will be sold for the same 2999 RMB ($419) as the base GDDR6 model.
