AMD asserts great cooler compatibility with the same hole spacing for sockets AM4 and AM5, providing the manufacturers utilize the standard backplates. Noctua is one such company, and with a few exceptions, all models in the current lineup are directly compatible with AMD's new socket.

When most PC enthusiasts think of beige and brown fans, they automatically think of Noctua. The Austrian company manufactures (case) fans and CPU coolers in a variety of sizes and is well-known for the high quality of its workmanship and superb product support. Furthermore, the firm retrofits year-old coolers with mounting gear for modern CPU sockets.

Instead of substantial conversion steps, the manufacturer left the LGA1718 (AM5) hole spacing the same as on the AM4, so that any CPU cooler fitted to the normal AM4 backplate is immediately directly compatible with AM5. With the exception of the NH-L9a-AM4 and the NM-AM4-L9aL9i, this implies that all models in Noctua's current range are compatible with the new socket.
