New AMD Athlon II and Phenom II processors next month

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 05/10/2009 08:04 AM | source: | 0 comment(s)

Somewhere next month, likely Computex time, AMD is going to introduce a new range of AMD Athlon II and Phenom II processors. A more high-end targeted series and a  new series energy friendly processors. The E series will have four new Phenom II models of which two quad-cores and  two dual-core processors. All processors will have a 65 Watt TDP.

Next to that four new Athlon II processors will be released, again two with four and two with dual-cores. The biog difference with Phenom II will be the lack of L3 cache and a lower TDP at 45 Watt.

These are the "E" processors, energy friendly.

Phenom II X4 900e 2,4GHz 2MB L2 + 6MB L3 cache 65W
Athlon II X4 605e 2,3GHz 2MB L2 cache 45W
Athlon II X4 600e 2,2GHz 2MB L2 cache 45W

Athlon II X3 405e 2,3GHz 1,5MB L2 cache 45W
Athlon II X3 400e 2,2GHz 1,5MB L2 cache 45W

the other more high-end AM3 models to be unleashed are yet another three Phenom IIs and another three Athlon II processors. There will be a new quad core (925) at 2.8 GHz with  a 95W TDP as well.

The ones who can live with 'only' two cores .. this might be interesting, two dual-core Phenoms at 3,1 and 3,2 GHz respectively. Finally based on new architecture and a lovely high clock frequency.
