NETGEAR Nighthawk X10 R9000 Tri-Band Router Supports 4600Mbps

NETGEAR Nighthawk X10 R9000 Tri-Band Router Supports 4600Mbps

The NETGEAR tri-band WiFi 802.11ad Nighthawk X10 R9000 is now fully available in stores. It is fitted with a 1.7GHz quad-core processor coupled with a 1GB RAM, the Nighthawk X10 R9000 can operate at a combined speed of up to 7.2Gbps, with one 60GHz band that reaches up to 4600Mbps.

Then one 5GHz band that reaches up to 1733Mbps and one 2.4GHz band that reaches up to 800Mbps. Equipped with four external antennas (w/ active antenna technology, MU-MIMO technology and beam-forming technology). I/O ports abound. There are two USB 3.0 ports located on the left side of the router, and around back are six Gigabit LAN ports, a WAN (Internet) port, an SPF+ LAN port, and power, Reset, and LED On/Off buttons.

It supports 802.11ad networking, which operates on the 60GHz band and is capable of (theoretical) throughput speeds of up to 4,600Mbps. To  take advantage of 802.11ad speeds, all clients must have Wi-Fi circuitry that supports 802.11ad networking, and as of this writing, they are few.

The R9000 supports Ethernet Port Aggregation, which lets you combine two LAN ports (port 1 and port 2) to improve file-transfer speeds to compatible aggregate devices, such as network switches and network-attached storage (NAS) devices. The 10G SPF+ LAN port, which is a feature usually found in an enterprise-oriented router, is used to connect the R9000 to 10-gigabit Ethernet devices, such as enterprise servers and switches.

The NETGEAR Nighthawk X10 R9000 costs about $499.

If you are UK based come back to this Router in about 20 years time it could be worth it by then and you could probably pick it up of the Bay for £10.00 :)

but then you could just go with the NETGEAR Nighthawk X10 – AD7200 802.11ac/ad Quad-Stream MU-MIMO WiFi Router with 1.7GHz Quad-core Processor

that has speeds of 7200 Mbps for the same price

I wouldn't waste my money on a BHR (big honking router). I'm pretty sure only the ignorant still buys these things. Hey look I have a space crab that has numbers from marketing that mean nothing. My device can get a wifi signal but can't talk back. Wifi strength is uneven across my house too. Sign me up!

Buy a mesh router or a router with some decent APs and have a much better wifi network than any of these BHRs provide. These routers are the RGB of the network world useless and flashy.
