Kaby Lake processors probably are not a reason to upgrade all by themselves. However alongside the processor series will be the intel series 200 chipsets. Much like the current popular Z170 series there is going to be a H270 and Z270 as well, the first photos just surfaced.

So the first photos somehow leaked over at Super Micro as they have them publicly on display on their website, courtesy of HWBattle we must add. The models on display are the:

  • C7Z270-PG
  • C7Z270-CG
  • C7Z270-CG-L
  • C7H270-CG-ML

The 200-series chipset tied to the processor series is tagged under codename "Union Point," and will support Intel Optane SSDs and Rapid Storage Technology support for PCIe storage devices.  Desktop processors based on Kaby will use LGA 1151, the Skylake slot and support TDPs from 35, 65 and 91W. The last model will obviously be an unlocked K series processor.  The Kaby lake platform for desktops will support USB 3.1 and DDR4.

Now rest assured that these photos should not be online, however if you visit the SuperMicro websites, it's simply online:

I added to photos to our own database as I do not expect the SMC website to have them online for long.
