A recent photograph leak by momomo_us on Twitter has unveiled a forthcoming Intel Xeon processor, referred to as Granite Rapids-SP, paired with an unprecedented LGA 4710 socket type.

This mustn't be mistaken for the previously leaked Granite Rapids-AP CPU and its distinct LGA 7529 socket. The larger LGA-4710 socket will also be compatible with Intel's future Efficient-core implementation, codenamed "Sierra Forest," within the Xeon lineup.

There's a running conjecture that the smaller LGA-4170 socket might serve the consumer/workstation series, referred to as Xeon WS. However, no official statement has confirmed this assumption. The existing workstation series, known as Sapphire Rapids-WS or Xeon W3400/2400 series, is anticipated to undergo an update early next year. According to the leak, Intel is evaluating two distinct integrated heatspreader (IHS) designs for the LGA-4170 processors. One design bears a resemblance to AMD's AM5 CPUs, such as the "Raphael" or Ryzen 7000 series.

Further insight into the leak by "YuuKi-AnS" has disclosed a connection between the LGA-4170 socket and a platform dubbed "Beechnut City," which is compatible with GNR-SP CPUs. Intel's Beechnut City is a dual-socket platform crafted specifically for the upcoming data-center processors, based on the Granite Rapids-SP architecture.

An Intel slide reveals that the Beechnut City platform is designed to support up to 350W TDP SKUs and up to 8-channel DDR5 memory operating at a maximum speed of 6400 MT/s. The platform currently functions as a primary validation vehicle, introducing substantial changes compared to the green-colored Eagle Stream platform.

Before the anticipated launch of Granite Rapids in the following year, Intel plans to introduce a 5th Gen Xeon platform, "Emerald Rapids," that will utilize the same platform as the prevailing 4th Gen Xeon Sapphire Rapids.

The sixth-generation Granite Rapids-SP & AP CPUs, based on the "Intel 3" process node, are slated for release in the second half of 2024, subsequent to the Sierra Forest lineup.
