Intel Arc GPUs currently experience difficulties when attempting to run the Starfield game. Several issues are reported by users.

Intel, upon recognizing these compatibility challenges, promises to address them soon after the early access launch. Nevertheless, an immediate solution isn't anticipated. An official update from @IntelGraphics suggests that efforts are underway to improve compatibility in anticipation of the game's full release on September 6th. Problems include:

  • Failure to launch the game.
  • Extended loading times resulting in irregular texture displays.
  • Consumption of up to 30 GB of system memory when the executable runs in the background, often observed within a thirty-minute window of activity in the Task Manager.
  • Following this extensive memory usage, systems either experience a crash or proceed to the game menu. However, the game's stability remains inconsistent, often crashing to the desktop within a short duration of gameplay.

While Starfield's sponsorship by AMD has raised eyebrows, both Bethesda and Microsoft have been subject to scrutiny regarding this partnership. Some speculations on platforms such as Reddit suggest that the sponsorship might have posed challenges for Intel's graphics division in developing efficient drivers. However, there is no substantial evidence to back these claims. Notably, NVIDIA released an initial driver for Starfield on August 22nd, indicating that external influences affecting driver development seem unlikely.
