Huawei P40 PRO Spotted? has a 240mm camera lens

Huawei P40 PRO Spotted? has a 240mm camera lens

Basically the Huawei P40 and P40 Pro should not be presented in Paris until the end of March this year, but are already showing up on some photos. The photo shows that the new flagship will have a triple camera on the back and a dual-camera on the front.

It has not yet been confirmed whether the photo is actually an official press photo. The quality and presentation suggest this, however. The picture was published by the online magazine 91mobiles, which has been wrong in the past with its leaks lately. The photo likely shows the normal Huawei P40, which would explain why there is only a triple camera on the back. With the Pro model, the setup will probably be supplemented by another lens. The P40 (Pro) will have a hole punch display, according to the photo . A part of the screen is punched out to make room for the camera. The normal version apparently has a dual camera for selfies, at least two lenses can be seen. The P40 and P40 Pro should both get the Kirin 990 SoC  . A new battery with a graphene coating is said to be  responsible for long runtimes. The energy storage is said to offer a  capacity of 5,500 mAh.

It is not yet clear whether the P40 will suffer the same fate as the Huawei Mate 30. The current smartphone flagship runs on Android, but has to do without preinstalled Google services such as the Play Store.

Update: a new render shows that the Huawei P40 Pro with an impressive 240mm camera lens. Evan Blass shows a 240 mm lens in 35mm equivalent. That would make '9x zoom' possible. The text on the back of the phone shows a zoom range of 18 mm to 240 mm and an aperture of f/1.8 to f/4.0.

That information matches earlier rumors on the P40 Pro.

In the long run you'll end up with a camera which has phone capabilities...

The phone does not have a 240mm lens. And before you click reply to my comment, think for a bit what 240mm stands for.
The text should say something around the lines of: "the phone has a camera with an equivalent focal length representing 240mm"

I think it is assumed that this implies "equivalent focal length".

But... this is a trend I could get on board with. Not this stupid 30MP+ nonsense.

The trend of "How many camera's can we physically fit on a phone" XD

I just can't help but finding these things seriously ugly - I am all for trying to cram as much tech into a single small camera instead of going the "multi camera" way.

I'd rather have an Android/Iphone with 1 (good) camera that looks sleek and nice then having 1/4 (or more) of my phone being occupied by multiple cameras .. Just an opinion of course, but I hope camera tech will advance and we can get back to 1 good camera and some awesomesauce software to add all effects instead of more cameras :D
