Google might be working on Android-based gaming console
Google is said to be working on its own Android-based gaming console and an Android wristwatch, in an attempt to combat similar future devices from Apple. WSJ spoke to people familiar with Google's plans, and got to hear that the search giant is also preparing a second-generation of the Nexus Q, the company's media-streaming device that was revealed last year but never made it to market.
Exact details about these projects weren't disclosed, but it appears the Android console may be quite similar to OUYA, an Android video game console that started shipping earlier this week.
With the game machine and digital watch, Google is hoping to combat similar devices that Apple Inc. may release in the future, according to the people.
Google is also preparing to release a second version of an Android-powered media-streaming device, called Nexus Q, that was unveiled last year but not sold to the public, these people said.
The Internet giant hopes to design and market the devices itself and release at least one of them this fall, they added.
