AMD's Ryzen 7 5800X runs neck-and-neck with Intel's Core i7-12700 (non-K) processor in the Geekbench 5 benchmark. The i7-12700 has a 65 W TDP and comes with 8 "Golden Cove" P-cores and 4 "Gracemont" E-cores.

The 12th Gen Core i7 is differentiated from the 12th Gen Core i9 by 4 fewer E-cores, a decrease in clockspeed, and the absence of features like Thermal Velocity Boost.

Core i7-12700, in single-threaded performance tests, scored 1595 points and 10170 points in multi-threaded testing. Its single-threaded performance is just 5% behind the Ryzen 7 5800X in the Geekbench database, and 2% behind it in the multi-threaded test. However, with the Intel 600-series chipset motherboards possibly having the same power-limit unlocks as the 400-series and 500-series, it's possible to gain greater performance.

it has to be stated though, it's just geekbench.
