G.Skill FLARE 3200 MHz CL14 kit Correction

G.Skill FLARE 3200 MHz CL14 kit Correction

Recently we posted a AMD Ryzen 7 AGESA 1006 DDR4 memory check review (read that here). We tested well over a dozen kits, and in that review the dedicated Ryzen G.Skill FLARE 3200 MHz CL14 kit failed our test. I like to revisit the results now as I have been able to confirm that we had a bad DIMM module.

The G.Skill FLARE 3200 MHz CL14 kits are specifically designed, tweaked and optimized for Ryzen processors and platforms, however on three of our test platforms it would not run properly. In fact on one system the DRAM reported back as single channel, which made us wonder. Meanwhile in our forums multiple users reported to run this memory successful and without any issues.

G.Skill was kind enough to send out a new DIMM kit and I am happy to say that with AGESA 1.0.0.6 these kits do seem to work like a charm. Below the results based on an ASUS Crossfire IV Hero motherboard with beta AGESA 1.0.0.6 BIOS.

G.Skill FLARE 3200 MHz CL14 kit - PASS: 3200 MHz / CL14

Basically we popped in the memory, selected XMP and the memory booted at 3200 MHz into the system at CAS latency 14. Not bad eh? Anyway with this news item I wanted to re-assure that these kits are terrific and that the issue thus was an isolated one on my end. I felt the need to redeem G.Skill on this kit with this public news announcement as my articles do tend to have an effect on purchasing choices.

I have this memory paired with a 1800x. I can also confirm its plug in, select XMP profile and you are running at 3200Mhz. I can only get very mild OC's out of it without going to crazy on voltage but none the less good compatible memory.

Im currently running with a 1700x 4.0Ghz and 2x8GB Geil Evo X CL16 kit and these works just fine at 3200mhz without any tweaks or doodads.
It has to be said that the Bios update has been a bit of a rollercoaster - But with the 1.0.0.6 update, it works like a charm.
So i can recommend them to anyone else who is thinking of getting a Ryzen system.
