First Benchmarks show AMD Ryzen 7 4800HS to be faster than Ryzen 7 2700X and Core i7-9700K
A set of early benchmarks of the AMD Ryzen 7 4800HS have appeared on the web, and as it seems the mobile CPU is faster than a Ryzen 7 2700X or a Core i7-9700K.
The upcoming HS model, for example, will end up in the ROG Zephyrus G15 GA502I. It is close to the AMD Ryzen 7 4800H but the HS mode should get longer boost speeds for its 8 cores and 16 threads even competing with older desktop processors. The specs currently show (2.9 / 4.2 GHz).
The measurements show Ryzen 7 4800HS in Time Spy CPU Score at 8,730 points. For comparison used is Core i7-9700K with 8,200 points; the Ryzen 7 4800H with 8,350 points and Ryzen 7 3700X with 10,180 points; Ryzen 7 2700X with 8,600 points; Ryzen 5 3600 with 7,300 points. It looks like AMD will be going strong with Renoir following the successful Ryzen 3000 desktop launch.

Well with Intel releasing the same CPU on laptops every year is no surprise. Intel has been milking people every year with the same tech over and over with small improvements and on the laptop department, they are actually fkd because they can't go around increasing TDP with higher core counts or frequencies.

Now I really want DTR laptop with one of these to finally replace my current desktop. If it also would manage to stay silent under high load even better.
This CPU + Radeon Pro 5500M, I'll be happy for a while.

What?
A mobile CPU outperforms a solid desktop CPU?
Am I dreaming?
If there is some truth in this, we just didn't realize how deep the rabbit hole goes.
Lisa Su sheepish smile during the CES presentation now makes a whole new sense.
I can only dream of having an ThinkPad with a behemoth CPU and Vega/Navi graphics.
This is big.
