Because they did like 3-4 months ago, mine got updated mid February, I think first was MSI, then Asus and the rest asrock, evga.

Yeah, I think you might be thinking that they were saying that Z87 will support broadwell, which is not true. Only Z97 will support broadwell.

September 2013, no sign of Z97 yet and listen what this Intel CEO says about Broadwell and Z87 systems..

Of course they're not gonna say it out loud yet & promote it, they need to sell some Z97 first, but when it hits retail same Intel MEI firmware bios update procedure, like mentioned in this article for ECS.
