Many conferences and events are postponed indefinitely or even canceled due to the corona virus outbreak, there are still important exhibitions pending, among it: E3 2020.
The world's biggest video game convention could be postponed, or worse, canceled. However, the E3 organization issued a statement:
"Everyone is watching the situation very closely, we will continue to be vigilant, as our first priority is the health, wellness and safety of all of our exhibitors and attendees. Given what we know at this time, we are moving ahead full speed with E3 2020 planning. Exhibit and registration sales are on track for an exciting show in June."
E3 stands firm, we'll see though. The convention is just three months away. In that respect we also need to mention Computex, the organization has not shared info on how they will deal with the outbreak and the respective exhibition.
Update: March 11th, 2020, from the looks of things E3 will be canceled. Multiple media rely on sources that indicate that the Los Angeles game fair will be canceled due to concerns about the corona virus. Officially, the organization has not yet made a decision about this though.
Update: March 11th, 2020 8pm, ESA has now officially announced that the E3 will not take place. The organization previously reported that it wants to take precautionary measures to prevent infections.
After careful consultation with our member companies regarding the health and safety of everyone in our industry - our fans, our employees, our exhibitors, and our long-time E3 partners - we have made the difficult decision to cancel E3 2020, scheduled for June 9-11 in Los Angeles.
Following increased and overwhelming concerns about the COVID-19 virus, we felt this was the best way to proceed during such an unprecedented global situation. We are very disappointed that we are unable to hold this event for our fans and supporters. But we know it's the right decision based on the information we have today.
Our team will reach out directly to exhibitors and attendees with information about providing full refunds.
We are also exploring options with our members to coordinate an online experience to showcase industry announcements and news in June 2020. Updates will be shared on E3Expo.com.
