Cherry Now Offers Silent MX Switches to All Companies
Although the title might sound a bit weird, it isn't. You will have noticed only one company make mechanical keyboards with the new silent MX Switches from Cherry, the Corsair Gaming STRAFE RGB MX Silent (review here). It seems this was a one year exclusive.
Since a year has passed ever since that keyboard release Cherry can now offer the Silent MX switches to other companies as well. This involves the Red MX and MX Black ones in a silent version. They now also are available in versions with a transparent housing for lighting.
In order to muffle the sound, the switches are housed in a housing made of glass fiber. Cherry says that they are now even quieter than models where afterwards damping rings are put on. The durability of the Silent MX switches remains unchanged with up to 50 million keystrokes.

Nice… Now to wait for them to be used in a keyboard with properly placed keys (like the TrulyErgonomic) at a decent price (unlike the TrulyErgonomic, especially when you don’t live in the USA).

I own an STRAFE RGB MX Silent so I can tell you that it really is silent, but to answer your question about the feel, it's hard to say. They're not clicky at all if that's what you're asking. The strokes have no tactile feedback whatsoever but it's clear to the touch that it's mechanical as opposed to membrane. Hope this helps.

MX Silent are basically MX Reds. Their noise reduction mechanism make them feel a little mushy but not much.

I tried dampening rings and it removed most of the feel of the keyboard. Does anyone know how well these do at retaining the mechanical feel?
