Call of Duty: Vanguard, set during WWII, will be released on November 5th.

Call of Duty: Vanguard harkens back to the franchise's WWII origins. The single-player campaign follows four distinct heroes across four distinct theaters of battle.

Later in the war, the quartet reunites for an alternate reality special forces mission called 'Operation Phoenix', which is aimed to thwart the Nazis' postwar escape-and-survival plans. At debut, the game will also have plenty of multiplayer action, including 20 levels and, of course, a zombies mode.

In a press release, Activision writes that "Vanguard delivers the complete package to Call of Duty fans across campaign, online multiplayer and zombies co-operative modes". As mentioned above, you will have a single player campaign with diverse characters and situations. These are as follows:

  • Private Lucas Riggs, 20th Battalion, Australian 9th Infantry Division, British Eighth Army. You will be battling in North Africa.
  • Sergeant Arthur Kingsley of the 9th Parachute Battalion, British Army. Kingsley takes part in Operation Tonga, parachuting near Caen during the Normandy invasion.
  • Lieutenant Wade Jackson, Scouting Squadron Six, United States Navy. Playing as a Navy pilot at the Battle of Midway.
  • Lieutenant Polina Petrova of the 138th Rifle Division, Red Army. You will be playing as a sniper supporting Russia's push back on the eastern front.

When these missions are done, the Vanguard story has these four protagonists working together in an alternative history mission.

The company claims "a big day one multiplayer offering, with 20 maps accessible at launch, 16 created for core gameplay." Gamers can participate in six-on-six engagements, two-on-two gunfights, eight-team small squad fighting, and more. The developers also implemented a Gunsmith and Calibre system. Concerned about multiplayer cheaters? Activision says it has a new anti-cheat mechanism it will show closer to debut.

Zombies are coming back - this time as a cooperative experience with new gameplay elements. The zombie narrative will tie into Black Ops Cold War mythos. Vanguard will be released on November 5th for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Transparency will be embraced from the start. Sledgehammer Games developed Call of Duty: Vanguard, while Treyarch developed Zombies. Raven Software is developing Call of Duty: Warzone. The Alpha tester download is around 20GB, and I've heard the final release will be around 75-100GB (or 270GB including Warzone).
