ASRock Shows X399 Taichi and Fatal1ty Professional Gaming
You guys have seen X399 (Ryzen Threadripper) motherboards from names like ASUS, Gigabyte and MSI. ASRock was still missing in that list. However details and some photos surfaced on the web showing the new X399 Fatal1ty Professional Gaming and X399 Taichi.
The boards will be impressive as ASRock always takes it to the next level, especially networking is a thing. You guys know that i have been preaching higher Ethernet speeds for like a year now, well the X399 Fatal1ty Professional Gaming is to be fitted wit dual-band AC WIFI and it has three Ethernet jacks! Not just that, one of them will get a 10 Gigabit jack based on an embedded Aquantia NIC. Obviously the board will get the usual LED bling and functionality.
You will spot 8 DIMM slots for quad-channel DDR4 memory, which btw is listed to support up-to 3600 MHz DIMMs. The board has four PCI-Express x16 slots (each secondary a x8 lane one) and one PCI 2.0 x1 slot as well as three M2 connectors.
The X399 Taichi is pretty much offering the same features aside from that 10 Gbit Ethernet jack. Obviously it has different aesthetic tweaks. Have a peek at the slides (courtesy of Videocardz).

I know what you mean.
For me personally, i feel that the jump between upgrading my computer is not what it used to be. Could be wrong mind but I have lost all interest in building my own rigs because of this.

So am I wrong for thinking that now I have to wait for these boards to come out with their "revision 2" before buying since USB 3.2 has now just been confirmed?
I'd imagine these boards would get an update further down the road as did the x79/99 boards got theirs.
I want to upgrade so badly I can taste it and this is seriously the first time I've waited this long since new hardware has been dropping like hot cakes from an IHOP....!!

Maybe, but that would be so with x299 as well.

Not to date myself too much ....but I have been an enthusiast since the commodore 64 was connected to my 12" inch t.v. screen and had to type in numbers to simulate flight attacks on a carrier group. Am I the only one that feels like the cpu's and motherboards at their current technology levels, are not only slow in coming but should/could have been years earlier? My point being, I feel like I have been milked for all I'm worth and am finally being rewarded for hanging in there. Servers have enjoyed premium technology, albeit at a premium price, and the public kept teased by a "new" carrot on a string every so often. I love what I see here now and will make sure I future proof myself from more carrots as long as possible.
