ASRock addon card brings X670 features to AMD B650 motherboard
ASRock showcased a new feature for some of their motherboards in a special edition of the B650 LiveMixer. This expansion card adds a secondary chipset to the motherboard, which makes it similar in specs to the full-fledged X670 board.
The motherboard was sent to Level1Techs, a technology review website, and it came with an extra expansion card called the “X670 XPANSION KIT”. The B650 LiveMixer motherboard, which is not currently available for sale, offers two PCIe x4 NVME M.2 slots, three USB Type-A, one USB Type-C 10Gbit, two SATA connectors, and the most impressive feature, a 10 Gbit Ethernet (the motherboard offers 2.5 Gbit without the card). However, the expansion card only works with certain ASRock motherboards and requires a special control line connection, in addition to the PCIe connector.
This new feature by ASRock is an innovative solution for customers who want to upgrade their motherboards later on. The reviewer believes that ASRock’s idea would be well-received by customers. However, the company is currently just testing the waters. The expansion card and the special edition of the B650 LiveMixer motherboard are not currently available for purchase. Remember, this feature is currently only an option for the special edition of the B650 LiveMixer motherboard and is not available for purchase yet.

Better to just buy a x670 board and be done with it.

Great idea! Where I see myself using product like this is building mid-high-end a system for primary use but then down the line after I retire it as my main rig and repurpose the system or it's components for it's second life. Sell off the XPANSION KIT if not required maybe even transfer it to a next generation build. For example, it would be a bit of a waste to repurpose X670 motherboard as for a NAS or any other secondary application.

If you need more usb ports or a second lan this is great, x670 or b650 does not really matter.
I would like to know if you can add more than one or if you can add on a any mb.

Why would you need so many USB connections? It seems overkill to me. Getting a 10 Gbps connector seems understandable (10/10 Gbps internet connections are starting to be a thing here for 25 €/month), but having a more of USB connections for a board that already has a bunch of them... not sure I see the use of it. It seems like something that can be expanded with a standard PCI card.
IMO, the extra M.2 connections would make sense for some people down the line I guess...
Anyway. It's a strange All-in-one proprietary upgrade that I'm not sure many people will need... but for those who do find it useful, why not?
