Of all the things people can get upset about, or would it just be to get some free attention? Owners of the Conservatorium Hotel claim not to be happy about the fact that their hotel is used for fights and weaponry.

The Call of Duty series is known for how realistically it shows well-known places in the real world, and Activision would have been in trouble for doing this. The owners of an Amsterdam hotel that shows up in Modern Warfare 2 were not happy with how it looked, especially since the company that made the game does not seem to have permission to use its appearance.

“We take note of the fact that the Conservatorium Hotel is one of the new Call of Duty locations,” said manager Roy Tomassen. "Generally speaking, we don't like games that encourage violence. The game does not reflect our core values, and we regret our apparent and unwanted involvement."

At the moment, the hotel management has not done anything about what happened, but there are strong signs that the situation could lead to legal action.

The location is called Breenbergh in the game, but there is no hiding the fact that it is based on the Hotel Conservatorium. The building that is now the hotel was built in the 19th century as a bank. Over the years, it has been remodelled to make it look nice enough for a five star location.

Copyright laws protect the plans for architectural projects in both the U.S. and Europe. Since the hotel has nothing to do with the military, its owners probably do not want to be associated with shootings and murders, even if they happen in the virtual world.
