AMDs FidelityFX Super Resolution could be released in June

Before we start off this news item, let me say that we could not verify the claims of the party involved. However logic dictates that AMD will be launching a DLSS alternative at one point in time, and this could be it.

The problem we have with the content right now is that we're not sure we can back the claim of June, as it seems far-fetched. Anyhow, YouTuber Coreteks makes the claim that game developers are testing FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) as we speak and development would almost ready. FidelityFX Super Resolution is different from DLSS in the fact that the tech does not require training from an AI point of view. FSR is applied much earlier in the graphics rendering pipeline.

The word out on the street is that the technology basically is an algorithmic upscaler (with only a little overhead on the GPU). The advantage here is that it's a more open technology, it can be applied to Geforce graphics cards as well. Next to that for developers, it would easier to deploy.

What performance benefits this technology will bring currently is unknown. But if any antialiasing can be disabled, that's your main performance gain, deduct from that the overhead that FSR has, and the cumulative outcome still could be significantly higher.

FSR will become part of AMD's FidelityFX toolkit, once implemented in a game its just extra passes on the univied GPU, as such NVIDIA graphics card could work with the technology as well.,

Regardless of how accurate this newly leaked info is, it will be interesting to see and observe. To date, AMD has not released information on FSR publicly, other than we're working on it. FSR could help greatly with framerates and also loft Raytracing performance significantly when applied.
