AMD Zen to get three perf tiers and sits at the €200 marker
An interesting slide surfaced at the Chiphell forum. As you guys know, AMD ZEN processors developed under code-name Summit Ridge (RS) will be released in Q1 of 2017. The initial wave will see 8-core processors. The new slide shows an internal presentation from AMD, there will be three categories processors with the mainstream SKUs in the €200 /$200 marker.
Much like the competition AMD would be selling Summit Ridge in three segments, low-end, mid-range and high-end much like Intel's Core i3, i5 and i7 series. When you look at the slide it states SR7, SR5 and SR3, matching up with Summit Ridge (RS) and thus a performance segment denominator. We thing that the SR5 series will not have any form of hyper threading and/or perhaps be the 4-core models.
When you look at the left side of the slide you'll notice stuff like RMB1500. This relates to the price, this is renminbi (which may also be used for the yuan) is CNY. The currency is often abbreviated RMB, or indicated by the yuan sign ¥, now 1500 Chinese Yuan is roughly €200,-
The RMB1500 marker on the slide lines up with the SR series so we assume (and this is the speculative part of this news-item) that the mainstream to high-end part SKUs will sit and start in that price range.

Doesn't that price put it at roughly the same pricing as Intel?

No one can say because the graph is incredibly vague. It says >$200 on the side. The cheapest Intel 8 core part is $1000.

Indeed, the arrow seems indicate more a "starting at" 200$ .

The question is what kind of part starts at $200. If the minimum is an octocore, then the price sounds more than reasonable. And even if it's a quad with HT, it's already 35% cheaper than an equivalent i7.

EDIT:
So ~ 350€ for 8core? Seems to good to be true
