A new "AMD Ryzen C7" with ARM architecture and an RDNA2 GPU was spotted, which would arrive in 2021 for high-end smartphones, revealing the plans of reds breaking into one of the largest custom chip markets today.

If the rumor is true, the processor could have impressive performance thanks to the use of two Cortex X1 cores, ARM's next-generation high-performance cores. These will work at 3.0GHz, and will be accompanied by two Cortex A78 cores at 2.60GHz, and 4 Cortex A55 cores at 2GHz. The GPU will have an RDNA2 Mobile GPU with four custom 700MHz computing units, obtaining 45% more performance than the Adreno 650 GPU used in the Snapdragon 865. It will also be the first mobile GPU with hardware-accelerated ray-tracing. and variable shading rate.

Other SOC features include TSMC 5nm process manufacturing for high energy efficiency, and support for 5G, LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1 memories, displays up to 2K @ 144Hz with HDR10 +, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, USB 3.1 , and more.

It will be interesting to see if this rumor ends up being true, since if so, AMD will undoubtedly make a strong competition to the Snapdragon 875 and will become an interesting competitor in the smartphone market. For now, it's just a rumor, so we recommend taking it with a grain of salt.
