AMD EOLs Radeon HD 7990 Dual-GPU Card

AMD EOLs Radeon HD 7990 Dual-GPU Card

According to a report on the Internet, the dual-GPU Tahiti based Radeon HD 7990 is going end of life already. The card was 'released' just over two months ago in April and sure, it was an extraordinary launch as there wheren't even cards enough to feed to the press for reviews. Combined with the micro-stuttering issues that are haunting the R7000 multi-GPU cards and a possible release of a new flagship Radeon card in October already, this might be the more logical solution for AMD.

The product that you guys learned to know under codename Malta with its two fully equipped Tahiti XT2 GPUs is thus going EOL already. The AMD Radeon HD 7990 is a dual-GPU solution running a baseclock of 950 MHz per GPU with a boost allowance towards 1 GHz. So that is 50 MHz below the 7970 GHz edition spec. Other variables like memory where kept in-tact, that means 6 Gbps memory over two 384-bit memory interfaces. Each GPU will receive a full 3 GB of graphics memory (GDDR5). The Radeon HD 7990 GHz edition was introduced in the 800~900 EUR price range.

Read our full review here. This card EOL is not confirmed by AMD itself.

Hey Hilbert, Can I ask a nooby question? I just bought this card and for the past day I've been having a tough time trying to figure out (through google) whether I can switch the BIOS switch between standard and LN2 mode while the PC is on or off.

So simply, Do I need to completely shutdown the PC to flip the BIOS switch or can I do it while the PC is active? Thanks in advance!

NEVER switch in-between BIOSes while the PC is powered on.

in my experience the hawk can handle massive core OCing, but not so much on the vram as other cards.
i so wish it was 4gb, i had a great time with mine, HH done a nice review also.
