AMD Ryzen Series 5000 (ZEN3) processors announcements and presentation overview

'Where Gaming Begins, AMD Ryzen 5000 Series Dekstop processors' was the slogan of the presentation today, now renamed ;-) And that certainly indicates two things.

AMD will emphasize proper ZEN3 processors performance in games, as well as validating that ZEN3 based processors are located in the Ryzen 5000 series.

AMD's processors have been announced tonight, announced, but not launched. Series 5000 is based on Vermeer Zen 3 architecture and, fabbed at 7nm. AMD CEO Lisa Su will announce the processors. The presentation can be followed live on YouTube, you can watch it with us here on Guru3D. Today at 6 pm, CEST AMD will premiere a broadcast (likely pre-recorded). Interestingly the title of the stream below is 'Where gaming begins.' And earlier leaks have indicated that games will see a massive bump in performance when CPU bound.

AMD is expected to announce two to four processors today: 5600X, 5800X, 5900X, and 5950X. Two could launch already in October (likely the 20th). The 5950X and 5600X are supposedly launching later, if there are announcements on these at all. Also, there will not be any reviews today.

Blog:

  1. Fun fact: 8 October was also the same day when Lisa Su became the CEO of AMD.
  2. Su takes the stage, mentions gamers will be happy.  Talks about the challenges with COVID19 and the exciting times in the industry. Mentions the new consoles (AMD powered).
  3. Su talks talking about 3rd gen Ryzen, desktop, notebooks, and talks about their love for the PC. Says, 3rd gen perf will lead everywhere.
  4. ZEN3 would bring the best to market and increases perf, energy efficiency, and gaming performance.

  1. Mark Papermaster takes the stage. Claims ZEN3 higher max boost, higher IPC (+19%), new core layout. There indeed is a unified 8-core complex! yay, that drops latencies and helps gaming. ZEN3 is a front to back redesign.
  2. A 24% improvement in energy efficiency is claimed.
  3. Su takes the stage again to announce the processors.
  4. Ryzen 9 5900X = 12c/24t and gets a 4.8 GHz turbo tied to a 105W TDP.  Average 26% perf uplift in gaming on average. Cinebench ST score passes 630 points, which is a huge TBH.

  1. Su back on stage. Three procs are announced. On November 5th they are available.
  2. Ryzen 9 5950X is announced, 16 cores, and a Boost freq at 4.9 GHz. Price 799 USD.
  3. Ryzen 9 5900X is announced, 12 cores, and a Boost freq at 4.8 GHz. Price 549 USD
  4. Ryzen 7 5800X is announced, 8 cores, and a Boost freq at 4.7 GHz. Price 449 USD
  5. Ryzen 5 5600X is announced, 6 cores, and a Boost freq at 4.6 GHz. Price 299 USD

    1. Radeon Big Navi lineup is mentioned. A small preview is shown. With borderlands and a few numbers.
That concludes the presentation. As mentioned there are no reviews today. below you can watch the presentation. We will write up a small preview on the announcements which we'll post later today.

Update: We collected all findings and posted a preview on ZEN3 here.

That's a premieres and aren't those not live it's just pre-recorded with a chat? You can see it in the bottom left hand corner. I don't think it's actually going to be live stream but maybe I'm wrong.

Why hate? Because of over-hype and dishonest performance claims?
Maybe it won't be that big of a gap between claims and reality this time...

I dunno about ACEB, but I watched one of these in the past and it was nothing but corporate cringe. I'll just wait for HH to pick out the most important points for us.

The over-hype and dishonest performance claims are par for the course nowadays and any sane person knows to wait for independent reviews.

"Premieres in X hours"? There is nothing different on the markings than other livestreams booked to start several hours later.
And this one popped last night as I was waiting Stephen Crowder's stream to start with same indications.
