AMD Catalyst 14.1 Beta loaded with new features

In some slides photographed  from an Asian website AMD is hinting towards AMD Catalyst 14.1 Beta drivers being released in Q1 2014, yet having some great new features. First off, AMD definitely is hinting towards a Mantle release as Battlefield 4 is being mention in the slide. We already learned that Mantle could improve performance of the game by a good 40%.  The new driver features the Mantle API, TrueAudio, DirectX 11.2 support and new frame pacing enhancements for 4K and Eyefinity as well.

Followed by Catalyst 14.2 will come a new design for the Catalyst Control Center (CCC) with new profiles to easily tuned 3D settings for a more user friendly experience.

This revision beta 2 driver will bring enhancements to the latest AMD Overdrive which was recently intro’d with the Radeon R9 290X and Radeon R9 290 graphic cards bringing users temperature based overdrive, heat map user interface and fan control settings. Some other advancements:

Great performance improvements in Battlefield 4

  • Thanks to AMD’s Mantle!

Additional Frame Pacing Enhancements

  • 4K and Eyefinity support on non-XDMA hardware

  • Dual graphics support

AMD TrueAudio support in Catalyst

AMD’s Catalyst 14.1 BETA will also activate DirectX 11.2 for the entire AMD Radeon R9 200 series, R7 200 series, HD 7000 series graphics cards available on both desktop and mobile platforms and will make 14.1 BETA compatible with Windows 8.1 featuring support for AMD Eyefinity, OpenCL, OpenGL, AMD Dual graphics, CrossFireX, AMD Overdrive and AMD CCC.

I'm all for Mantle but it don't look so good if it's a beta driver that is given a vague 'Q1' release date.

Somehow it's hard to believe that API alone will boost 40% performance on the same quality level - that's a lot.

Will Tiled Resources also be supported by Windows 7, at least to some capacity (Tier 1)?
