Introduction

MSI Spatium M390 NVMe 1TB M2 SSD (PCIe Gen 3.0)
Good performance - mediocre endurance - fantastic price

Meet the M390, which is positioned as the MSI SSD value offering for PCIe Gen 3.0, in my opinion. MSI's NVMe 1.4 compliant SSD, which has performance rates of up-to 3300 MB/sec and endurance ratings of 400 TBW for the 1 TB model, is more than capable of meeting your needs while also being more competitively priced.

The 1TB model of the tested product is now available for purchase for 110 USD/EUR (street pricing). For that particular model, this equates to 11 cents per GB. Remember that this is a TLC-written (176 layers!) NVMe SSD outfitted with Phison's E15 controller, which is capable of reaping some benefits within your storage array, despite the price being high for NAND storage these days in general. MSI is currently offering a more affordable SPATIUM M390 PCIe 3.0 NVMe SSD that still has a transfer rate topping 3 GB/s. The new line of the NVMe M.2 SSDs supports PCI-Express3.0 (x4) connectivity. Capacity options range from 500 GB to 1 TB on this drive, which features an M.2 2280 form factor.

The usage of (3D) NAND storage in conjunction with a Phison E15T controller results in a design that does not require the use of DRAM. After then, a small piece of the system memory is used as a buffer. The sequential reading speed of the 500GB model is 3,300MB / sec, and the writing speed is 2,300MB / sec. The transfer speed of the 500GB model is 3,300MB / sec. There are 300,000 IOPS for random reading and 550,000 IOPS for random writing on this system. According to the manufacturer, the 1TB model achieves sequential transfer rates of 3,300 megabytes per second (MB/s), 420,000 IOPS, and 550,000 IOPS, respectively, and achieves the best-in-class performance among SSDs connected via PCI-Express 3.0 (x4).

Trim, SMART (LDPC ECC), E2E Data Protection, AES 256-bit encryption, and other features are also provided, in addition to the standard functionality. Here are the external measurements in millimeters: 22 mm in width, 80 mm in depth, and 2.15 mm in height are the dimensions of this item. When it comes to the 500GB model, the total write amount is 200TBW, and when it comes to the 1TB model, the total write amount is 400TBW. There is a 1.5 million hour mean time between failures (MTBF), and the device has a five-year warranty.
