The Verdict

Quad Crossfire or Triple-SLI still wouldn't be able to stress this PSU and you should be grateful about that fact, the less Wattage your PSU consumes the better for all of us.

This conclusion is going to be very similar to the Sirtec 1200 Watt PSU we recently tested, why you ask ? Because the innards of that PSU is the same. There's no shame in that as Sirtec makes god-awful nice power supplies.

So let's focus a little onwards to why should you buy a 1200 Watt PSU.  By itself that would make a a valid question. For me personally there are three reasons.

  • The first being that fact that I like to have reserves. When I play a game I want a high-end graphics so that I'm sure it plays well. You can relate that ideology also to a PSU. I never want my PC to run out of current, it can cause system instability, crashes and God knows what not. Also by purchasing a PSU of this caliber you know for sure you'll have it for a long time, as you are not stressing it. The components in the PSU are not stressed, that ensures a longer life-time.
  • Now the second reason is more simple, money. This PSU might be the cheapest KW+ PSU available at an amazing price. For the money of a good 800 Watt PSU you can purchase this PSU, it has a pricetag of roughly 235 EUR.
  • The third and final reason that should convince you is the high efficiency we noticed at what we thing should be near 87% It's one of the few PSU's we tested that managed to get the power draw of this entire PC below 500 Watts (476 Watt to be precise). I have tested high-rated PSUs under the exact same conditions which have drawn 575 Watt. That's a 100 Watt difference on the same PC with the one difference being the PSU ! [Ed - Funny you mention that difference... isnt that about 0.021 per hour?!]

The Tuniq Ensemble also has some excellent safety features are built in, notice the sleeved black nylon wiring and the good low-noise level. There's really not a negative that I can think of except two minor things. The PSU is longer than your average PSU at 220mm. It'll fit in most casing though. Yet do check that out before purchasing.

The second con is the fact that this PSU has no modability. You can not attach or detach cables. So that means you have a lot of wiring in your PC. The PSU freaks will now attack me though, as modability also equals worse efficiency. By adding connector blocks you also add resistance and maybe a little ripple. So I'd say .. whatever floats your boat man. Luckily you'll have option in the stores these days.

guru3d-recommended_150px.jpgIn closing, the Tuniq Ensemble 1200 Watt Power Supply is among the best we have ever tested. Surely we can't stress the PSU to it's full capacity but I know where these PSU's are made and I also know that equals quality. Armed with a three year warranty and a very competitive price you really can't go wrong here.

A highly stressable high efficient PSU is one of the wisest investments you can make for your PC. You know it'll last, safe you money on your power bill and help mother earth a little by doing your part in preserving power. I know that's a little weird to close this article with on a 1200 Watt PSU. But face it; the 87% energy efficiency is something extremely commendable.

For good price, design and pure uber-power we give this unit a Guru3D recommended award.
