Introduction

Phanteks Eclipse P600s review
Total eclipse of the (enthusiast) heart?

This time we’re checking out the new Phanteks Eclipse P600S mid-tower PC chassis. The Dutch company is keeping up the pace, as this is another new product after the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv X, which we reviewed at the end of October 2018. This time it’s a chassis from a bit lower segment of the market (but that doesn’t mean it’s low-end). It combines the advantages of two approaches – silence and performance.

“The Eclipse P600S is designed to bring you the best of two worlds. A hybrid forged between silent and high-performance chassis. Find the optimal configuration in any situation by switching between quiet or performance mode. Designed with effective soundproofing panels and Phanteks’ new high airflow fabric, the Eclipse P600S offers the full potential of two opposites, minimum noise and maximum airflow.”

Four versions (three colours) are available:

  • Satin Black (which is also available with a solid side panel)
  • Anthracite Grey
  • Galaxy Silver

Phanteks provided us with the first colour variant, with a solid side panel. Most cases are fitted with tempered glass panels nowadays (including the other 3 versions of the P600S), so it is surely something unusual.
The Eclipse P600S’s features include:

  • Premium materials, with sound-dampening padding used on the panels
  • Dual-system upgrade capability (with the Eclipse P600S power supply and Phanteks’s ITX Upgrade Kit – both sold separately)
  • USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C connector on the front panel
  • When needed - enhanced cooling, including more effective spacing

The Phanteks Eclipse P600S chassis is definitely not a small one. It measures 240 mm x 520 mm x 510 mm (W x H x D, giving as total of 63.64 l), weighs about 13 kg, and supports up to E-ATX motherboards (280 mm wide). It’s possible to mount a maximum of ten 3.5” drives (four brackets are included in the package), or three 2.5” ones (all SSD mounts provided out of the box). On the front, you will find the following ports:

  • USB 3.0 (2 x),
  • USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C (1 x),
  • 3.5 mm HD audio jacks

The Phanteks Eclipse P600S has many cooling options, with support for up to 420 mm radiators in the front, 360 mm on the top, and a 140 mm radiator in the rear. Dust filters have been installed on the front, on the top, and at the bottom. The Dutch manufacturer provides users with three Phanteks Premium 140 mm fans.
