Palit GeForce GTX 1060 Super Jetstream Review -
Product Showcase
The Palit GeForce GTX 1060 is 9.6 inches in length which is roughly 25 cm so it should fit comfortably in pretty much any decent chassis. The GeForce GTX 1060, 1070 and 1080 display engine is capable of supporting the latest high resolution displays, including 4K and 5K screens. And with HDMI 2.0 support, the GeForce GTX 1060 can be used by gamers who want to game on the newest state-of-the-art big screen TVs. Up to four display heads can be driven simultaneously from one card. The GPU display pipeline supports HDR gaming, as well as video encoding and decoding. New to Pascal is HDR Video (4K@60 10/12b HEVC Decode), HDR Record/Stream (4K@60 10b HEVC Encode), and HDR Interface Support (DP 1.4).
At the backside you are also going to notice a dual-BIOS switch. Both BIOSes are the same, but should you mess up a firmware flash, switch the BIOS to mode two and you are back in business.
At the rear backside we stumbled into some other cool stuff. As you know Nvidia limits pretty much anything through BIOS and drivers including voltages. Palit left some options available at the PCB. Hard-wiring some extra voltage should be possible on GPU, memory and PLL. Also you can see an OC and OCP (overclock protection) SMP solder points. But even unlocked to my knowledge the driver would battle this solution with limiters kicking in. But interesting to see alright.
So that top and fan side LEDs would be the configurable RGB LED functionality. Above an example of the RGB LED configuration with (below) their software.
Of course, you can also turn them off as well. That RGB coloring of your personal preference does work wonders in a color toned PC. A four phase power supply is responsible for supplying the GP106 GPU with power. An additional power phase is dedicated to the board’s GDDR5 memory.
You will have some extra power allowance, the reference/Founders board design supplies the GPU with 150 Watts of power with a higher maximum power target setting. Overall a great looking card.
